In traditional IoT wireless communication, there’s a persistent trade-off between speed and range. Lower frequency communications result in narrower bandwidths and speed limits of tens of megabits per second. While adequate for many IoT applications, this limits the pursuit of higher speeds by Wi-Fi chip providers, who resort to higher frequencies, such as those supported by Wi-Fi 6E. These higher speeds, however, are achievable only within ashort range, proving sub-optimal for IoT applications.

AsiaRF’s partner, Morse Micro, has developed a reliable Wi-Fi solutionfor IoT devices using lower frequencies. The AsiaRF Wi-Fi HaLow IoT Solution Kit is specifically designed for AI and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) applications. It features the Morse Micro’s MM6108 Wi-Fi HaLow SoC (System on a Chip), which is the fastest, smallest, lowest power-consuming, and longest-range Wi-Fi HaLow chip available on the market, along with MorseMicro HaLow wireless communication technology. The software is developed using the OpenWrt system and supports WiFi 4 AP/WiFi WAN functionality. Through collaboration with Morse Micro, the product AP7688-WHM became the world’s first Wi-Fi Certificated HaLow End-product in June 2023.
